Scholarships
Jasmine Tran
We want to congratulate our newest grant recipient: Jasmine Tran!
"Jasmine Tran is currently attending Cal State Fullerton. She was recently accepted into the master's accreditation program for teachers at CSUF. My wife, Erika, has known Jasmine for the past 5+ years and her exposure to the Foundation along with the types of recipients that we look to support ultimately led to her and I feeling that Jasmine would be a viable recipient for consideration of a grant. "
- Jed Wokenfuss Board Member "I am so grateful to the Heidi Krueger Foundation for helping me pursue my lifelong dream of becoming an Educator. Teachers have always been heroes to me. Their superpower is shaping how we see the world. A good, caring Teacher might be the first person in a child’s life to make him believe in himself. That’s what I want to do.
Because of the generosity of HKF, I can go into my M.Ed. and Teaching Credential program at California State University, Fullerton knowing you guys believe in me and are cheering me on to keep my journey going. Thank you!" Jasmine Tran California State University, Fullerton Accepted into M.Ed. and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential Program Will start August 20, 2022. |
Chloe Palmer
One of the Bay Area’s brightest young people, 18 year old Chloe Palmer. Chloe is the oldest of four siblings, has a 4.3 Grade average and has been accepted at Azusa Pacific University ( a Christian college) in LA. Chloe intends to further her education in Business and to help grow her Mother’s catering business. Chloe is enthusiastic, articulate and speaks about her family and her responsibility as an oldest child both to help and be a role model to her younger siblings. She lives in Scotts Valley and attended San Lorenzo Valley High School. Chloe is active in school, community and her Mother’s business. This hard working young adult was an ideal candidate for an HKF Grant which will be used toward tuition and her on campus room and board.
We are proud to support these young people like Chloe as they move forward! Way to go Chloe!!

Checking In...
Checking in with a past grant recipient...Leidys
Leidys was a previous grant recipient back in 2016. She remained disciplined, stayed on her educational path, and we were able to award her another grant last year.
Below is little update on her life and progress since receiving grants from the HKF!
Below is little update on her life and progress since receiving grants from the HKF!
"This grant helped me achieved my goals because it pushed me further towards my degree by way of being able to dedicate more time to my studies. Being a first-generation student, I had experienced financial burdens, and this grant made a difference in the time I was able to spend in my education, making possible my appearance on my school Dean's list. Furthermore, this grant not only helped me academically but personally as well. I was able to build my self-confidence and reinforce my commitment to reaching my goals by the trust I was given by being a recipient of this grant. I am grateful for this foundation for believing in me and supporting me through my college journey."

Updates:
Update on HKF Grant recipient Sergio Hernandez
Heidi Krueger Foundation Board member Jed Wockenfuss met with 2-time grant recipient Sergio Hernandez on campus at UCLA recently to award his grant to him. Sergio is entering his Sophomore year at UCLA. He has classes in English Literature and Computer Science this fall. He has acclimated well to the college life and is doing well in his coursework. He is still undecided on his major but mentioned a strong interest in studying business and helping those in need. Sergio is also heavily engaged in the UCLA chess club and is working on ways to share his love of the game with others who haven’t been exposed to it.
Per Jed, “Our Foundation is hitting the mark in carrying out its purpose by supporting a young man like Sergio as he pursues his undergraduate degree. The work we’re doing matters and is impacting lives for the better.” |
Heidi's Foundation Announces: Jennifer Alvarez Receives HKF Grant
Heidi's Foundation is pleased to announce the award of an HKF grant to Jennifer Alvarez, on 12/5/15.
Jennifer will be using the grant to help with her final semester tuition at San Jose State University, where she is scheduled to graduate in June 2016. Jen is a true example of a person creating a better life for herself and her daughters, by earning her college education. And it has not been easy for her to make this happen. Jen is a single mother of two girls, JJ and Brianna, a kindergartner and second-grader. She is teaching her daughters in the best manner possible, by example, what it means to work hard, persevere and push through, while so many other people take the "easy route". Jennifer is proving that a person's will power and commitment are stronger than the statistics. Jen had her first baby at age 19, while attending College. |
According to current statistics, only 1 out of 4 people return to college after having a baby. Of those that do come back, only a few typically finish their degree.
Jen is proof that hard work and commitment are more powerful than all the statistics in the world! Please join us in congratulating Jennifer Alvarez as she creates a future for herself and her family! |
Heidi's Foundation Announces: Tristan Sanchez Receives HKF Grant
Heidi's Foundation is pleased to announce the award of a HKF grant to Tristan Sanchez, on January 15th, 2016.
This "kid" seen here dwarfing me, is Tristan Sanchez. He will be using his grant to offset expenses as he continues his education. He has worked hard to overcome learning disabilities, and has achieved high grades, as a result. Tristan comes from a strong family unit that includes his mother and sister. In the future, Tristan hopes to continue his "Life training" by joining the military (though Mom has yet to be convinced on the idea...). Tristan has a passion for playing hockey, playing as a defenseman on teams for the past 9 years. He's tough enough to have played through 3 hockey periods, including 2 overtimes, after breaking his wrist in the period before! He also has a strong need to contribute, both in his family and to others in his community.
Please join us in congratulating Tristan Sanchez as he creates a future for himself and his family! |
Heidi's Foundation Announces: The Matthew Adamski Memorial Grant
The Board of Directors of the Heidi Krueger Foundation for Giving have voted and unanimously decided to award a special Grant to a future applicant that clearly rises above the rest.
We are proud to announce that in the near future, a unique Foundation Grant will be awarded in memory of a special individual. The Mathew Adamski award will be given by Heidi's Foundation to the individual that has displayed unique characteristics for tenacity and perseverance. Mathew was a special man who persevered while fighting against Muscular Dystrophy for most of his life. |
Among his many accomplishments, Matt earned his Bachelor's degree in Journalism and European History, and became a dedicated sports statistician.
Most of all, he was an example of never giving up, and keeping a positive attitude through it all. Matt passed away at age 34 this past June, and the loss has been felt by many. Heidi's Foundation is pleased to honor Matt and his lifelong perseverance with this memorial award in his name. For more information on Matt and his life, please visit our "Past Recipients" page |
